Berghaus - Backpacks and outdoor clothing not only for mountaineers

Berghaus Ltd. is a traditional brand for mountaineering and outdoor equipment with a history which goes back to 1966.

Founded by the two Britons Peter Lockey and Gordon Davison in Newcastle upon Tyne with the intention of developing high-quality equipment for activities in higher mountain regions. Over the decades, backpacks and clothing items such as jackets and vests have come into production, which are still considered today as Outdoor fashion and popular worldwide.

The passing Berghaus fashion and its use

In addition to basics such as T-shirts and long-sleeved shirts, Berghaus also has vests and jackets made from softshell and other contemporary materials. The range allows the search for a classic wind stopper so that cold and wet do not get to the body and to benefit from a first-class inside climate. The breathable fabric does not restrict unnecessarily and can be worn in combination with several layers without overheating the body in cold outdoor conditions.

When selecting Berghaus backpacks, you must pay attention to the closing principles in addition to the required capacity. Depending on the model, the backpack lids have one or more additional pockets in order to have basic equipment at hand or to react immediately in emergency situations. In addition, many backpacks have zip-off pouches that can be used as additional storage bags.

Questions and answers about Berghaus

  • The name Berghaus is unusual for a British brand, but was actually chosen based on the German language and the Alpine region. The British founders were however not aware that this means Mountain Hut in German.
  • The import of hiking and snowshoes from the international brand SCARPA, which is still highly respected by older mountaineers, contributed significantly to the success of the chain behind Berghaus.
  • Another factor in the brand's success was the offer of innovative backpacks at the beginning of the 1970s. Their goal was to be able to distribute ballast more intelligently and thereby be able to transport more without perceiving this as an additional burden.
